Here is my channels.conf for comcast charlottesville.
This list works as is for me in using mplayer with this file saved at at:
~/.mplayer/channels.conf
Example
from a terminal enter
mplayer dvb://SF
should be all that is needed to watch SciFi channel
The on demand channels may or may not have anything on them at any given time.
You can see what other people are watching, if anything.
I will try to keep this up to date. No guarantees.
this listing good as of Sun Feb 22 15:15:58 EST 2009
NOTE: the lines starting with a # are treated as comments and ignored by mplayer so may remain in the file.

Hi Maxres.
I'm just getting started creating a Myth base DVR system. It would be great to learn from what you've found already.
Thanks,

Is this lineup still current for you? Which card did you scan that with?
I'm wondering as I'm in Illinois on Comcast and would like to use my pcHDTV-3000 but a scan yields no valid channels (although it locks on several times and tried to decode packets).
I'm assuming Comcast in my area doesn't do QAM encoded channels.
So the next question I have is, ComCast doesn't encrypt these, just encode them.
how does one find out what standard is in use in my area (or any area).
If the standard isn't QAM_256, AND the encoding isn't encrypted AND they're using OpenCable (or whatever it is I saw mentioned),
Will firmware for these cards have an update at some point to support it (if possible?)
Am I rambling or what?
