I purchased the 5500 card a few months ago and only used it with my direct tv receiver hooked up with the svidio cable included with the card. I had problems with the sound but got it to work. (see old post (no sound with xawtv)in the setup directory) I recently got an antenna and hooked it up to the tv input on the 5500 card with the svidio cabal still attached, I can watch free to air atsc signals now using Kaffeine sadly I only get 5 channels in my aria but these are the local channels not given to us by direct tv or dish tv.
I have tried Kaffeine in both Mepis Linux with KDE and Ubuntu with Gnome desktops and the card works fine with both for free over the air atsc signal's. |
